DTMA-Sponsored
Benefit Program
Announcing DTMA’s Sponsored
Benefit Program!
DTMA announces
a brand new program that will add value to your membership and non-dues
revenue to the Association. Sponsored benefits will benefit YOU!
As a service
to its members, DTMA looks for solutions to member needs through
value-added benefits. Known as DTMA-Sponsored Benefit Programs, they
offer value to members, non-dues revenue to the Association, and
promotional avenues to the product/service provider. Non-dues revenue
programs are important to membership-based associations in that they
help pay for activities and services offered by the association that
inevitably cost more than income generated by dues alone.
DTMA is
pleased to announce its first program – Employee Assessment and
Training, a service offered by Human Resource Development. You’ll be
hearing more about this program in the next few weeks.
Products and
services and their providers must pass through a screening process
developed and conducted by the Sponsored Benefit Committee which is
chaired by John MacRitchie of Fifth Third Bank. The committee intends
to offer no more than eight such programs, so only those most valuable
to the Association and its members will be selected.
Once the
committee identifies a member need, potential solution providers are
invited to submit proposals. Key selection criteria include revenue and
profitability potential, service delivery capabilities, and the
integrity of the program – whether it reflects the professionalism and
dignity of DTMA. Essential to any program is that its components
comprise a unique offering.
The committee
wants to know the type of value-added services that would be of most
benefit to you. Please send your ideas to
cindy@dtma.org.

Once we identify a need, we review potential solution
providers, invite proposals, and ultimately select a partner. Key
selection criteria include revenue and profitability potential, service
delivery capabilities, and the integrity of the program – whether it
reflects the professionalism and dignity of DTMA. Essential to any
program is that its components comprise a unique offering.
Two to three years are generally required to build a
successful sponsored program. Partners promote their programs via
DTMA’s communication channels (fees incurred).
How the Program Works
You can suggest a service or product, or DTMA will ask
you to consider offering a service or product. Either way, you submit a
proposal describing your offering. DTMA will solicit competing
proposals from members and possibly from selected non-members. A
committee will review all proposals and select several “finalists.”
Finalists will be invited to present their offering to the committee in
person, after which the vendor selected. To encourage companies to
originate ideas for value-added benefits, “idea originators”
automatically qualify as a finalist.
A contract covering the relationship is required. A
review of the program will take place mid-term. The Association may
solicit proposals from other vendors at the termination of the contract.
Details
·
You must be or become a
member of DTMA if you are selected as the DTMA-Sponsored Benefit Program
partner.
·
Your offering must provide
direct and/or indirect benefit to members (direct = discount to members
not readily available to the general public; indirect = service/product
is competitive and you provide non-dues revenue to the Association which
helps us keep dues at a minimum).
·
Your offering must provide
royalty revenue to the Association.
·
You need to describe how
you intend to promote your service/product and the assistance you expect
from DTMA staff. You will have the opportunity to advertise through
DTMA channels at standard advertising fees.
·
We will seek competing
proposals from members and possibly some non-members.
·
A committee will review
proposals received and narrow down the list to several finalists who
will be invited to meet with the committee to present the
service/product offering. If you are the “idea originator,” you are
automatically a finalist.
·
The DTMA-Sponsored Benefit
Program will be covered by a contract and will include a mid-term review
to make sure the program is living up to its intent. Members may be
surveyed to help determine the program’s value.
